Learn programming among banana fields!
Together with the training center “The Gym,” we are training young people in “coding clubs” at the Juru Vocational School to develop software.
“The Gym” is “Rwanda's most intense software development trainee program”. The Sustainable Villages Foundation and The Gym jointly came up with the idea of giving young people far from the capital the opportunity to get involved in software development.
Since January, thirty highly motivated 14- to 17-year-old students from the Juru Vocational School have been supervised twice a week in coding clubs by a trainer and two students from The Gym. The smart classrooms and good internet connection at the Juru vocational school provide the perfect setting.
There are plans to expand the coding clubs to a primary school and a secondary school.
