Ambassador and Mayor inaugurate Smart Classroom!
In a festive ceremony, the German Ambassador to Rwanda and the Mayor of Bugesera District, together with many guests, inaugurated the new Smart Classroom at Katarara School.
Katarara Primary School covers Years 1 to 12 and, with over 2,300 pupils, is the largest school in our project area. Using funds from the German Embassy in Rwanda’s small projects fund, we were able to complete a new, modern Smart Classroom equipped with 30 laptops and high-speed internet in December 2025.

On 21 April 2026, the German Ambassador to Rwanda, Heike Uta Dettmann, and the Mayor of Bugesera District, Richard Mutabazi, officially inaugurated the new classroom.

In glorious sunshine, around a hundred adult guests and pupils from Years 7 to 12 attended the ceremony.

Afterwards, the Ambassador visited the nursery school built by the Sustainable Villages Foundation (SVF) and discussed a ‘revolving fund’ with women’s savings groups at the SVF’s agricultural centre, which supports small investments in income-generating activities for women.
